Arizona is one of the very few states that criminalizes speeding. Most of our clients receive a criminal speeding charge because they were either traveling more than 85 miles per hour over the posted speed limit on the freeway, or greater than 20 miles per hour over the speed limit on a surface street. In either scenario, we can help either reduce the charge to civil speeding or have the judge grant the participation of Defensive Driving School.
Participating in Defense Driving School is the best case scenario for criminal speeding cases. Upon successful completion, the case will be dismissed. You will not have points on your record and best of all, you will not have criminal conviction.

Defensive Driving School can be completed online. The course lasts a few hours and costs a couple hundred dollars. Spending a couple hundred dollars on the course will prevent your insurance rates from going up by potentially thousands of dollars during the 39 months the conviction would stay on your driving record.
One of the most important things to keep in mind about criminal speeding charges is, they are not easy. Judges do not freely grant Defensive Driving School. If you want the best chance at avoiding the conviction and having the points erased from your record, you will need to hire an attorney to handle your case.
When our lawyers get involved in these cases, we pair a legal defense with what’s called a mitigation defense. A legal defense would include carefully analyzing the police report to see if there are any legal issues we can use to beat your charges. A mitigation defense means closely working with our clients to gather as much information as possible about themselves to demonstrate to the judge why they are deserving of a reduction.
Please keep in mind, not all cases are eligible for reductions or defensive driving school. Our lawyers are fair and would be happy to provide a free case evaluation to determine whether you would be a good candidate. You will find that we charge an extremely reasonable price for speeding cases. If keeping your criminal and driving record clean is important to you, I strongly suggest hiring a lawyer to fight your case.
